Kampala, Uganda – November 2025 — Accion International, in partnership with Nexa Merchandise Uganda Ltd., has launched the Refugee Women Digital Market Access Program, an initiative aimed at empowering 100 refugee women entrepreneurs living within host communities in Uganda through digital market integration.
Uganda hosts one of Africa’s largest refugee populations, with over 1.9 million refugees as of November 2025. Refugee women face significant barriers to economic participation, including limited mobility, caregiving responsibilities, and restricted access to markets. This program responds to these challenges by enabling access to digital trade opportunities.
Through shop.merchandiseuganda.com, a multi-vendor e-commerce platform operated by Nexa Merchandise Uganda, selected participants will receive online storefronts, digital skills training, and structured support to sell their products safely and efficiently.
The program’s go-to-market approach focuses on direct engagement within host communities, ensuring eligible participants are identified, onboarded, and supported to activate their online businesses.
Applications are now open for eligible refugee women entrepreneurs
